Small Groups…Why Bother?

Rick and Bear
I have one question for you to ponder. When you are really struggling in life, whether it be concerning poor choices, general turmoil, or personal tragedy, who do you call? Furthermore, do you call a lot of people or just a few trusted confidants that have been through the fire with you? That is precisely the point of a small group being small. You can build a trust in a smaller group that cannot be experienced once the gang of disciples goes beyond ten people or so. I know a lot of people prefer a larger group but it is impossible to build intimacy and trust with a crowd. It just cannot happen. In a smaller cluster of trusted friends you are free to bare your soul and cry out for prayer and God’s touch, knowing that the others are lifting you up and will continue to do so. If you can’t find a group small enough to fit your needs, pray about leading one! As the old commercial used to say, “Try it, you’ll like it!”
